"Let Them Marry!"

It is not any of the governments business about whether or not Bob and Tom or Jill and Sue get married. Same-sex marriage should be allowed all over the United States, and should not be restricted for a man-woman relationship only. When someone loves someone else that's going to be the way it is. The government cannot restrict who loves who, or who marries who. And now that California has allowed same-sex marriage in its state borders, homosexuals all over the United States are fleeing to California to become cute little married couples. So why ban gay marriage if anyone can fly off to California and get married. This just becomes a hassle for the state governments and the gay community themselves. Now that homosexuals see that changing the law can be done, I feel that there will be more protests and activity displayed by the gay community to try and change the laws in the rest of the country. The protesting is not the problem though. The problem lies with the government. If the government would not have banned same-sex marriage (a right that the government doesn't and hasn't had since the beginning of the United States), none of these protests or problems would have occurred. So I say to the state governments, "Let Them Marry!"

I don’t agree your opinion. Our society should not allow Same-sex marriage. If we start to allow this marriage it would be the beginning of ruining the flow of mankind. There are several different problems related in marriage such as allowing Mormonism, one husband having multiple wives, and under teenager marriage. If the United States starts to allow one tabooed marriage then other groups also will protest to the government until their marriages are turned into legal. After this happened, our world would be no longer exists any rules to control to lead the people into the law of nature. Then, this may cause more unknown diseases and genetic mutations. For that reason, not to people put into the chaos, the government should stick their policy.

I also disagree with your opinion. Marriage was originally defined as a legal union between a MAN and a WOMAN as husband and wife. No where was it every defined as a legal union between man and man or woman and woman. This idea only came into our minds later on as society became more and more corrupted. Now that California has legalized same-sex marriage, that only encourages more previous laws to be challenged in order to fit the lives of our changing society. It's leading to the government living by people's law's instead of people living by the government's laws that were first laid down after much thought and consideration. The law of marriage has stood for centuries and was never questioned before. I believed that our society is becoming more corrupted and the legalization of same-sex marriage is not only wrong and disturbing, but it is also encouraging to those who feel like what they did that is defined by the government as wrong, can now be protested with a chanced to be changed in their favor so they no longer have to follow the original rules.

It's a shame that it has to be discussed whether two people can marry. I agree that it is not the government's business whether a gay couple can marry.Neither is it people's business that it doesn't concern. The majority of people that are against gay marriage aren't gay and dont understand it fully.
To start my arguement I will present a point that I believe to be fact and crucial for people to understand.
*People are born gay. It is not something they decide, or do to rebel. Some people do deny they are gay, because of societie's views on it. This can hurt someone's life tremendously. The problem starts when people don't believe that people can be gay, denying that it is a part of their genetic makeup.
So, the people that feel that gay people aren't legitimate treat them as it they have a flaw and are unequal. Therefore they don't deserve the normal rights of an individual.
An individual should have the right to marry someone they care about and want to spend the rest of their life with.
So, to dispute the opposition of the basic right of marriage, I will take some points from fellow classmates.
Seans arguements are as follows.
"If we start to allow this marriage it would be the beginning of ruining the flow of mankind. There are several different problems related in marriage such as allowing Mormonism, one husband having multiple wives, and under teenager marriage."
* I'm not sure what is meant by the flow of mankind. Mankind is gay, straight, black, white, handicapped, and unique with different needs. Not everyone fits onto one path.
* There is a fear that allowing gay marriage will lead to forms of unacceptable marriage, such as that between two siblings. There are practical reasons for that though. There are genetic diseases that happen siblings have offspring. In gay marriage that is not an issue. Also where is the demand for a marriage between siblings? There is none, or no interest groups that I know of. Large groups of people will not suddenly want to marry their siblings.
Amy says: "Now that California has legalized same-sex marriage, that only encourages more previous laws to be challenged in order to fit the lives of our changing society."
Changing one law does NOT lead to other laws being changed. If it did then no laws would ever be enacted! Freedom of speech is an ideal we live under. It could lead to the mass overturn of the government, but it doesn't. Laws provide us with limits.
Amy says that the idea for same sex marriage only came into our minds as society became more corrupted. This validates my former point. Amy believes that gay people are corrupt. People that have this view will not understand homosexuals right to marry, because they don't understand that it is an undeniable fact of life. These people need to be educated, so they can make informed decisions. Hearing that Amy thinks gay marriage is disturbing is upsetting.
Some people base their feelings against gay marriage on their religion. The bible does say marriage is between a man and a women. It also implies that sex is reserved only for marriage. So how many people that base their feelings on gay marriage also don't have sex before marriage?
I would like to hear some substantial arguements for gay marriage so perhaps I can understand more where people come from when they refute gay marriage. Please feel free to contact me. I believe that education will help people better understand this issue. That it comes down to basic human rights, and the pursuit of happiness, which everyone deserves. Gay marriage will lead to a happier society, not a tainted one.
